LOTS OF NAKED PEOPLE SWIM FOR CHARITY AT NORTHUMBERLAND

As the sun rose this morning, most people were in their beds fast asleep. But in Northumberland, England brave skinny dippers stripped off and ran into the freezing North Sea for a chilly swim. This was done in celebration of the first official day of autumn known as the autumn equinox but majorly to raise money for charity. The event has raised over £25,000 for charity since it began in 2012.

Each participant registers and pays a fee of £12 before the event, which gets donated to charity. Organizer Jax Higginson, who created the event, wrote for Mind about why stripping off helps her cope. More pics after the cut
